The only thing I do differently is use French bread instead of brioche. Any bread will work, really – brioche, French bread, challah, Pepperidge Farm, etc. It’s the cinnamon and vanilla that take ordinary French toast over the top and make it taste this good – yum!

I prefer my cinnamon in rolls. I like to taste the bread with just a drizzle of maple syrup. BTW…pear jam (I haven’t made it in years but easy) is an amazing thing to serve with FT! Or just sliced pears. Something about the combo is so delicious, but to each his/her own. Brioche sounds like a great bread. I also make with a cracked wheat sourdough. Guess what we’ll be having for breakfast tomorrow!! Thx!

I use French bread from the bakery counter at the grocery store, but that’s the only difference. The cinnamon and vanilla in this are what takes an ordinary recipe to a whole new, delicious level. Try it and you’ll never make “plain” French toast again!

However, I would cut back to one egg and less milk in the future. It made way too much batter for just 4 pieces. I could’ve made at least 3 more with what I had leftover.
