Hot chocolate party time! How to host a host chocolate bar party with different flavors of easy hot chocolate. Classic hot chocolate, raspberry white hot chocolate, and matcha hot chocolate! Hotย chocolateย made with cocoa powder is the best!

Hot chocolate is a food group in my house right now. Weโve been making it so many different ways lately, and I wanted to capture all of the recipes for Camille. Just so you know, Camille fully approves of all of these flavors except the matchaโฆI donโt give my kid caffeine and neither should you.
Ok, fine fine, she definitely steals sips of my coffee in the mornings but itโs decaf, so..
I use all different types of milk for my hot chocolate, including cowโs milk, almond milk, soy milk, and coconut milk. It depends on the flavor Iโm making that day.
I love hosting a hot chocolate party for book club, after-church gatherings, and any other winter family gathering.

How to host a hot chocolate party with 3 flavors of hot chocolate:
LANE FAMILY HOT COCOA
I make this hot cocoa two ways: one for adults and another wayย for kids. As predicted, I use half the amount of sugar for the kidsโ version. I am nothing if not that mom that monitors her kidโs sugar intake and counts the number of vegetable servings she eats in a day. No, Iโm not a control freak, why do you ask?
This hot cocoa recipe is sweet enough that a kid thinks itโs a treat, and because maple syrup marshmallows are piled on top, it actually ends up being perfectly sweet.
For regular hot chocolate, I use coconut or almond milk.
For each mug: 1 cup coconut milk + 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder + 2 tablespoon coconut sugar.
Thatโs my basic recipe, but I do like to add a tiny pinch of salt and a splash of vanilla, too. Remember to halve the amount of sugar for kiddos.

RASPBERRY HOT COCOA
This is probably my favorite recipe for hot cocoa. Even though it uses white chocolate (and therefore has white sugar in it), I think itโs balanced by the raspberries. I justify every food indulgence in my life by adding a little something healthy.
Make sure to use real white chocolate (white baking chipsย are not what you want here). I chop a 4-ounce bar of real white chocolate. For this hot cocoa, I use regular cowโs milk.
For each mug: 1 cup milk + 1/2 cup raspberries + 2 ounces white chocolate.
As always, a pinch of salt and splash of vanilla are always welcome.

MATCHA WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE
And finally, matcha white hot cocoa. This is what I make for myself when I need a little energy boost in the afternoon. For the most part, Camille doesnโt mind that my hot cocoa is green while her mug is brown or pink. She snatched a matcha marshmallow off the top once and didnโt even bat an eye.
For matcha hot chocolate, I use soy milk. It just feels right because thatโs what I use when I make matcha lattes at home. Hereโs my favorite brand of matcha powder.
For each mug: 1 cup soy milk + 2 teaspoons matcha green tea powder + 2 ounces white chocolate.
You should have enough hot cocoa options to get you through Spring! I hope you have a great hot chocolate party!
Hot Chocolate Party!
Three ways to make 2 mugs of fun flavored hot chocolate!
Ingredients
For plain hot chocolate:
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2-4 tablespoons coconut sugar
- pinch of salt
- splash of vanilla
For raspberry hot cocoa:
- 1 cup raspberries (frozen are fine)
- 2 cups milk
- 4 ounces real white chocolate, chopped
- pinch of salt
- splash of vanilla
For the matcha white hot cocoa:
- 2 cups soy milk
- 4 teaspoons matcha green tea powder
- 4 ounces real white chocolate, chopped
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- To make plain hot chocolate, warm the coconut milk in a small saucepan. It's ready when bubbles form around the edges of the pan and steam comes off the surface; it's best not to let it boil. Divide the cocoa powder and coconut sugar between two mugs. Once the milk is hot, pour it into the mugs slowly while whisking. Whisk until frothy, and stir in a small pinch of salt and vanilla. Taste and adjust, as needed.
- To make raspberry hot cocoa: place the raspberries in the bottom of a blender. Meanwhile, heat the milk in a small saucepan until just bubbling around the edges. Add the chopped white chocolate, and let sit for 5 minutes to melt it. Whisk together very well, and add the milk mixture into the blender with the raspberries. Blend until very smooth. Add a small pinch of salt and vanilla. Taste and adjust, as needed.
- To make the matcha hot chocolate: pour the soy milk into a small saucepan and heat until just bubbling around the edges. Ad the chopped white chocolate, and let set for 5 minutes to melt it. Whisk together very well. Meanwhile, sift the matcha powder into two mugs. When the milk and chocolate mixture is smooth, slowly whisk it into the mugs. With matcha, it's best to start with a small amount of liquid and whisk vigorously until all of the powder is dissolved before slowly adding the rest of the milk.

Um yeah I want to come to this party and drink ALL of that matcha cocoa! Also, why havenโt I thought of raspberry cocoa before? Itโs gorgeous!
Love the matcha hot chocolate option! So creative! Iโm definitely going to be trying that one out.
Can I ask, what kind of coconut milk do you use? Are you referring to the kind in a can or the kind in a carton? Thanks! Looks delish!
I really love this idea. And I love how easy these recipes are! Hot chocolate is a food group for me too. Iโm always looking for excuses to grab a mug and I love all the fun flavors this time of year at my coffee shop. This raspberry one has totally caught my eye and I have all the ingredients and I think Iโll make a mug for me and my Mom tonight at Christmas Eve. Enjoy your Holiday! XOXO!
Adopt me please! I donโt eat much, Iโm good at knitting and love gardening. Iโm sure we will be great family! Ha!
