Peach iced tea is my summertime speciality, and when you see how easy it is to make, it will be yours, too! We’re using a can of peach nectar, a few bags of black tea, and an easy method to make a small batch of iced tea. You can scale this up to a pitcher of peach tea, if you need to!

Making two mason jars of peach iced tea can be your new summertime thing, just like me! Instead of making a giant pitcher of iced tea, I just make two mason jars each morning. I’m afraid that if I made a giant pitcher, I would drink this all day instead of water, plus, I’m trying to watch my caffeine intake! So, two small jars of tea is perfect for my house. It’s the afternoon treat that we need to keep going, so that we can keep up with the kids in the late afternoon.

Honestly, we’re going to get our caffeine one way or another, and sometimes we make our iced mochas. As long as we have something cold and sweet with caffeine in our fridge, we’re set! Our love of tea is very evident with our sweet tea fried chicken, if you must know!

Homemade Peach Tea Ingredients

  • black tea bags: Four regular-sized (single-serving) bags of black tea; two per cup. Since iced tea is, well, iced, it can be watered down, so we use two tea bags per serving instead of one.
  • water: We need 2 cups of boiling water and 2 cups of cool water.
  • canned peach juice: I like Jumex brand, but search the juice aisle for your favorite peach juice.
  • optional: fresh peach slices and mint, for garnish

How to make Peach Tea

I’m going to put a formal recipe card below for you, but making peach iced tea is so easy, that you’ll probably only need these step by step photos! The formula is easy to remember–it’s essentially half and half!

  1. First, boil 2 cups of water. You can do this in the microwave or using a beautiful electric kettle (this is the one I have, and I’m so spoiled by it, but I truly use it everyday!)
  2. Place TWO tea bags into each mason jar. Divide the water between the  jars. We’re using mason jars that are straight-sided (or wide-mouth), and I linked them here. You can use any kind of vessel you like, but be careful pouring boiling water into a thin glass!

  3. Steep the tea bags in the water uncovered for 4 minutes. Remove the tea bags.

  4. Pour 1/4 cup of peach nectar into each jar. I use the Jumex peach nectar in cans. If you like your tea super sweet, this is the time to stir in the sugar so that it dissolves in the warm water. A lot of Southerners say that sugar hitting warm water is what makes tea bitter, but after many experiments, I can say that this is simply not true. Bitter tea comes from brewing the tea bags too long. Set a timer :)

  5. Finally, pour 1 cup of cool water into each jar. Top with ice, fresh peach slices (if desired), and a mint sprig for garnish!

Peach Tea Recipe Variations

Other variations on making a small batch of iced tea for two:

  • one bag of black tea, one bag of lemon herbal tea
  • one bag of black tea, one bag of mint herbal tea
  • a strip of orange or lemon zest added with the tea bags
  • few hibiscus flowers

Is peach iced tea vegan?

Yes, as long as you don’t use honey.

Is peach iced tea healthy?

I’m not a nutritionist, so I can’t say definitively. But, tea has plenty of antioxidants, and using peach juice instead of sugar to sweetened tea can be healthier. If healthy is your goal, skip the additional sugar in this recipe, and your tea will be just as sweet, I promise!

Does peach iced tea have caffeine?

Yes, this version contains caffeine because we’re using black tea bags. Black tea has the highest caffeine content of any tea, but you can substitute a caffeine-free version. Whenever I drink things with caffeine, I always remind myself to still drink water!

Peach Iced Tea

Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups filtered, chilled water
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 1/2 cup peach nectar
  • 4 teaspoons sugar (optional, see note)*

Instructions

  1. Into each pint-sized mason jar, add 2 tea bags and pour 1 cup of the boiling water into each jar. Steep uncovered for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Remove tea bags, stir in peach nectar or sugar into each jar (if using), then fill the rest of the jar with the chilled water. Screw on the lid and refrigerate at least 4 hours before enjoying.

*I grew up in Texas, so I like my tea SWEET. I'm slowly weaning myself down to half sweet tea and half unsweet tea, but the heart wants what it wants. If you want just a touch of sweetness to your peach iced tea, the sugar in the peach nectar is plenty! Only add the extra sugar if you're a diehard sweet tea fan :)

    Great minds! I recently made an impulse purchase of some “iced tea bags” (we were having company over and I was in a rush.) I thought they were the cold-brew kind but they are just oversized tea bags. You are supposed to add 2 to a gallon but I found out one bag is the perfect amount for my large mason jars, which can also withstand the heat of pouring the boiling water right in them. So convenient! And I’m a huge fan of hibiscus tea – thanks for reminding me that I should brew some!
