The pan she uses is cast iron … it’s the same pan throughout the recipe.

Yes, Betty, the year that I canned my own tomatoes, I noticed this too! Canned fresh tomatoes have quite a bit more water in them. The grocery store varieties are cooked down and condensed more.

I used tomato sauce in a can. I think it was Hunt’s brand. Check for it in the canned tomato section of your market.
