Our family of 3 appreciates all your recipes, but especially the 6-donut recipes you’ve scaled down (most sites are 12 and that’s way too much for us). Mine tasted amazing but did not look as pretty as yours. So if you ever update this recipe I’d love your tips on how you made them look so perfect!

Although this recipe is good, it isn’t like the donuts. The Rise-N-Roll donuts are much lighter-melt-in-your-mouth donuts. Not cake like as these are.
However, these are delightful cakes-(I make them in mini Bundt cake pans) Ala’mode and my husband loves them!

Use your lactose free milk, with some lemon juice added, let stand 5 min. Same as buttermilk.

Is there anything else I can use?

I look forward to going to the NYS Fair in Syracuse since I started 6 years ago. Can I substitute baking powder and baking soda for a 1/2 or whole envelope of yeast?

I have made them at least 10 times and we love them. We moved from northwest Indiana and have missed Rise n Roll’s Amish crack so much! There is nothing like it. This is an awesome substitute! You should be proud of this recipe!

I didn’t have a donut pan so I used a jumbo muffin pan. They baked beautifully. In my opinion, they are nothing to write home about. Not enough nutmeg. 1 full tsp would be better. They are moist though. I’m sure the original from Wake and Roll Bakery are way better.

I can’t wait to try them again. I used caramel in a can to make the dip since that is what I had. Everyone in my house enjoyed these a lot!

There’s a huge fat content difference. Sour cream is 40% fat while buttermilk is 1% fat. I wouldn’t substitute.

I don’t have the proper pan, but I may have to order it just to make this! I love crack donuts and have missed them so much since moving out of state and because you can only get them in a few locations we can’t always make it on our list of of places to stop and eat. I can’t wait to try these (one I’ve ordered the pan of course)

Serving size is 1 donut; the nutritional info is for 1 donut. Multiply by 6 for total calories.
