If you have two ramekins from your creme brulee making set, you can make two mini chocolate cakes for two! Complete with frosting and sprinkles, this is the easiest and most satisfying Valentineโs Day dessert for two!

Youโll be happy to know that I have fully dedicated myself to scaling down all the cake recipes into ramekins to serve two. This chocolate cake for two version was easy, and the lemon cake for twoย was super fun (because lemon is my favorite flavor!). I followed those withย funfetti cake for two, and Iโm just going to keep going. I hope you wonโt mind.
We all have those ramekins in our cabinet that we think are only good for creme brulee. While they are so very good for creme brulee, we can do better. Even thoughย lemon creme brulee is my favorite, we can enjoy so many more desserts in ramekinsโฆlike small portions of cake!
Ifย you were unfamiliar with my life calling,ย itโs this: baking small desserts so you can bake and eat dessert every day. Itโs a sweet life, you should join me.

I should let you know that these cakes are good on their own, withoutย frosting, but if youโre going to take the extra minute to stir together the frosting, grab the sprinkles, too.
You should also know that thereโs absolutely no shame in eating both ramekins of chocolate cake for two yourself. When I was in the testing phase of this recipe, the first time I finally nailed it, I ate both ramekins.
Then, I strapped the baby into her stroller to walk it off, and let me tell you: chocolate cake will seriously fuel your work-out. I use a small amount of coffee in this cake (because coffee and chocolate love each other forever), and I like to think the caffeine gave me a work-out boost. Basically, Iโm in the running to become a life coach: eat cake, work out, repeat.
I like to think these little chocolate cakes in ramekins will be there for you in your time of chocolate need.
A few notes before we get to the recipe:
-These are the exact ramekins I use.
-This mini baking sheet is helpful, as I donโt recommend placing the ramekins directly on oven racks.
-This recipe uses just an egg yolk; be sure to check out my recipes to use up the leftover egg white.

Can I use the small individual aluminum pans instead? I realize I might have to shorten the baking time.
Followed the recipe except I reduced the sugar in half with two tablespoons instead of 1/4 cup. No frosting needed. Came out perfect!
Is their a way you could do this for 3 people . I want to include my mom as well andy daughter and myself since we frequently have Sunday night dinner together
You could include mom by making two more cakes and freezing one for later. If you have four ramekins it would only require one bake time. I made the lemon version of this and hubs and I split one, using no icing, topped with a few frozen blueberries and a simple squirt of whipped creamโฆ not more than a Tablespoon of the whipped cream. It was so pretty, and after a meal was really just enough goodie with a cup of tea alongside.
THANK YOU for giving directions for baking in the oven! So many of the small cake recipes I find give microwave directions and I donโt have a microwave. Canโt wait to give this recipe a try.
I AM IN LOVE!
So moist and delicious! ๐ I had to add one more tablespoon of milk because I live in a high altitude area and they turned out amazing! I also added a little bit of Nutella in the centre before popping them in the oven!
Do the cakes easily come out of the Ramekins? Do you think they would work stacking them on each other, like a layer cake. I want to make a smash cake for my Granddaughters birthday.
Iโve never tried that. We eat these right out of the ramekin. But if you use the search bar on my site, you can find small layer cakes, a birthday cake for kids, and more.
Can a coffee mug be substituted for a ramekin?? None of those in my house. ๐คญ
Love EVERYTHING in your site. Your little cakes recipes have been a life saver for someone in love with sweets. The recipes are perfect, easy to follow and the result is always Fantastic!
Thank you for your time and effort.
The taste of the cake and icing are great, however, mine was a little dry. I baked it for 18 minutes, checking it often after 14. Is there a way to remedy this?
Can i use a 6 inch cake pan instead of ramekins? I donโt have any, I just have cake pans + muffin tins
I have a recipe for a 6-inch cake here: https://www.dessertfortwo.com/mini-chocolate-cake/
